The Project
The Project
Asturias is a region which, due to its unique geological characteristics, is, historically, extremely well-endowed in mineral resources, much of which are still yet to be mined.
The mining sector has been a pillar of the economy and growth in the region. Since the mid-18th century, with the industrial development of coal mining, Asturias has gone from being an isolated region with a harsh coastline to an advanced part of the country, with established communication links. Historically, domestic travel was arduous but now, this region is a wealthy society with all the essential services. Mining was, therefore, a fundamental basis of the economy, industry and culture of Asturias; remains of the industrial heritage still exist.
Beyond coal, Asturias is also well known for its metals, industrial minerals, precious stones, ornamental rocks, hot springs, mineral waters and geothermal energy. Products are usually gold, fluorspar, clay, silica, limestone and much more.
Asturias is a mining community, and currently, it has the necessary resources to keep development and the mining industry as a fundamental part of its economy and contributor to economic growth. The industrial network of Asturias, which formed the foundations of the now existing infrastructure, attracts corporate investment in the region. This region has a network of institutional and retail investors, both highly qualified in investing in the technology and mining sectors. Asturias also has the capacity to manufacture mining equipment locally and, importantly, its people are proud of being part of the extractive industry.
